FAQ

HOW DO I GET MY S.W.A.G. ON?

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:

 

Q1): WHAT DOES “S.W.A.G.” MEAN AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE COLOR PINK?

A1): S.W.A.G. means S(uccess) W(isdom) A(thleticism) and G(race). Pink represents the support of breast cancer awareness.

 

Q2): WHAT AGES DO YOU START AND WHEN IS REGISTRATION?

A2): Texas S.W.AG. Track & Field Club is open to youth athletes ages 7 (*born 2008) to 18 (**born 1999).
* Per USATF Rule 300.1 (c) “Athletes must be at least seven (7) years of age on December 31 of the current year to compete at the Youth Athletics or Junior Olympic National Championships.”

** Athletes who are still 18 through the final day of the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships are eligible to compete in the 17-18 age division through that meet. This extended eligibility does not apply to cross country events.
Registration for the 2016 summer track season will begin on February 14, 2016.

## Note: Registration for the age divisions 8U – 12U (2004 – 2008) will be subject to a limited roster of 100 athletes.
Once the roster limit has been successfully met, no additional athletes will be added until the following season.

 

Q3): WHAT ARE THE REGISTRATION FEES?

A3): Registration fees are as follows:

For 8U – 12U (born 2004 – 2008): $350

For 14U – 18U (born 1998 – 2002): $185

Deposit for the 2016 Summer Track can be handled two ways:  
OPTION #1: Pay the $120 to attend the 2016 Strength and Conditioning Camp; or
OPTION #2: Once the 2016 Strength and Conditioning Camp begins, a deposit of $175 will be due. Final payment is due on or before April 30, 2015.

 

Q4): WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE?

A4): Registration fees will cover the following expenses includes (but not limited): Training, USATF/AAU membership, uniform, insurance, facility rental, and administrative fees.

 

Q5) IS TEXAS S.W.A.G. A SELECT TRACK CLUB?

A5) For 14U – 18U (born 1998 – 2002), yes, Texas S.W.A.G. is a select track club. There will be a MANDATORY time trial for ALL middle school and any other athlete who doesn’t have proof of meeting the standard qualifying times.
Time trials will be held on a date and time to be determined.

 

Q6): WHAT ARE THE DAYS OF PRACTICE?

A6): Each age group practices three (3) times a week starting on Sunday afternoons through Thursday evening. Specific days and times for each age group will be provided.

 

Q7): WHERE IS PRACTICE LOCATED?

A7): Practice location is Arlington Seguin H.S., 7001 Silo Rd., Arlington, Texas 76002

 

Q8): WHEN AND WHERE ARE TRACK MEETS?

A8): Track meets are typically held on Saturdays in the DFW metroplex area which includes Desoto, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, and Fort Worth with an occasional trip to T.C.U. on Thursdays. Our seasons usually last from May through late July – early August depending on the advancement of your athlete.

 

Q9): WHAT TO BRING TO A MEET?

A9): It is suggested that you invest and bring the following: tent, sun block, water and/or sports drink, food, hat/cap, chairs, light colored clothing, etc., to help combat the heat.

 

Q10): HOW LONG ARE MEETS?

Q10): While it is impossible to tell how long a meet will last, a typical Saturday meet will take 4 – 6 hours per session Most meets have a morning session for the younger age groups (8U – 12U) that will start approximately 8:00 am and end in the afternoon (approximately 2:30) with the older age groups (14U – 18U) beginning right afterwards.

 

Q11): WHERE DO PARENTS SIT? WHERE DOES MY KID SIT?

A11): We prefer that parents sit in the stands. If you insist on sitting near the designated area specifically for the athletes, we ask that you assist in the control of the athletes. Each athlete will sit under a specified tent. ATHLETE TENTS ARE ONLY FOR THE ATHLETES.

 

Q12): WHAT DOES MY ATHLETE NEED TO BRING TO TRACK MEET?

A12): Each athlete will be required to bring the following to each meet: backpack, running shoes, uniform, spikes, cover shirt/shorts or warm ups, water, and snacks.
